Source
Nilotica shea butter, also known as East African shea butter or Shea Nilotica, is the rare cousin of West African shea butter. It is made from the nuts of the Nilotica shea tree (Vitellaria Paradoxa) which only grows on the remote savannahs of Northern Uganda and South Sudan.

Extraction
Using a cold press method, the whole nuts are pressed without roasting or boiling. The cold press extracts a golden oil, which settles into a smooth ivory white butter. The low-temperature process, which never exceeds 70°C, ensures that the bio-active nutrients remain intact.

Texture
Nilotica Shea butter is naturally soft and creamy with an ivory yellow color and a subtle sweet, chocolatey scent. Its buttery consistency is due to a higher oil (oleic acid) content, up to 30% more than traditional shea butter. This gives it a lower melting point, allowing it to quickly transform into oil upon skin contact, making it ideal as a balm-to-oil moisturizer.
